Palmer's Homecoming Parade

Palmer had their Homecoming Parade a week ago. We live on the main road threw town so they came right in front of our house. It was a lot of fun. Tanner loved it. He waved, and shouted, and cheered them on. Of course just like any boy, he was more into the cheerleaders. LOL! Until the Duke's of Hazzard cars came. Tanner love love love's The Duke's of Hazzard.

Its been awhile

Gotta play catch up...

Daddy teaching Tanner how to play football. Love this so much!!

HE CAUGHT IT!!! My future football'r, makes me so happy!

Tanner eating at Joe's Crab Shack. He got to wear a bib, cause the waitress got his order wrong. She thought he ordered crab. lol... owell it was fun

Scooter wearing his Joe's Crab Shack Bib. Hope he doesn't see this, it wasn't too happy that I took this picture.

Playing on the monkey bars at Joe's

And this my friends is my silly kid during bath time. He has to fill the tub up with toys, this time it happened to be hot wheels. So he made a track out of the rim of the tub. Gotta love his personality!!
Tanner had to do a family picture collage as part of his homework at school. So this is what we put together.

Slowly but surely!

Tuesday News: Tanner was whining, he knew his dad was home so he wanted his dad. I finally get him in the car to head to the school and he's crying not wanting to go. I had to walk him in and he started acting better. Wasn't crying or anything. We get to cafeteria and he see's one of his friends. So I tell him to go get him, he takes off towards the gym. I tell him bye and he goes in without a problem. Thank goodness! I am very proud of him. After school we came home and ate lunch. We left headed towards Grand Prairie to Scooter's parents house, looked in the fields down the road and noticed there was a huge fire going on. So we immediately started checking into it online and pulled up the scanner. Grass fire! Yikes, they are popping up everywhere. Scares me. It went on for about 5+ hours. 200-250 acres, 1 vehicle, 1 RV & 1 boat lost. Horrible! Then another fire popped up in Waxahachie/Red Oak area, not sure of the damage there. When we got back from his parents house we went to check out the damage of the in Palmer and noticed that another fire was down the road in Garrett. We drove down there and it was someones mobile home. I feel so bad for all these people who are affected by these fires. WE DESPERATELY NEED RAIN!

Wednesday News: This morning was much much better. Tanner got up and got off to school without crying at all. He did ask me to walk him into school. So I did. We got to where his classroom and the cafeteria are and he says, "mom, I'll walk in by myself if you want me to." I tell him ok and bye and walk away. He walked in just a smiling and looked so big. I am happy for him . I hope its like this from now on.

Grandparent's Day

Although yesterday was Grandparent's Day, Today (Monday) is Grandparent's Day at Tanner's school. Mimi got to go with us to school and eat breakfast. Tanner showed her around, showed her his classroom & the cafeteria. He was happy bringing her to his school. He didn't eat any of his breakfast though. So when it came time for us to leave he showed Mimi how he had to walk to the gym. He started to tear up as he walked away, but was fine.

Daddy is off work for a few days, so he had the idea to take Tanner and Tex (our dog) to the lake. So after we picked up Tanner we went home and got the dog and everything ready. Scooter took his metal detector to play around with. Only found 66 cents. But we had a good time.

OH WEEKEND...OH WEEKEND...

Weekends just aren't long enough! This past weekend was a little relaxing. Didn't really have any plans, again. Did some yard selling Friday. Dad found some pretty good deals. Coffee Table-$10, Tool box for truck (full of tools)-$10, almost new Tiller-$20. I bought a huge box of novels for $2.

Tanner got his first fundraiser Friday. We are so excited, can't wait to sell a bunch of stuff so that he can get his limo ride to Cici's. Goal is 15, so far we have 11. But still have a lot of people to hit up. I know we will make it happen. Tanner also got another Top Dog Card-#12, and a Fish Card. The Fish Card is given to the student when they are caught doing something good by another adult, non-teacher. The ones with the most cards (I think) get to have a popcorn party at school. So he is excited about that.

Scooter watered our yard this weekend, and of course Tanner had to get out there and have some fun with it. He played in the sprinkler. It was fun!

Happy Hump Day

~Happy Hump Day World~
Going to school isn't very fun for mom in the mornings. Tanner done great the first week, then after that he seems to not want to go. HELP!!
He threw a fit all morning, I knew I was going to have to walk him in the school because he wasn't going to get out of the car otherwise. So we sign in and go to the cafeteria, he clings onto me and starts bawling. I'm stuck and don't know what to do. Luckily the coach happened to walk up, again, and immediately took him and talked to him as they walked to the gym.

So when I got home I started asking for advice and thinking of things I could do to help the situation. I made some little cards with different activities, and stuff that is fun. I told him when he gets home everyday from school he gets to pick a card and whatever's on that card we get to do that day. If its $1 card he gets to save them up and buy something. He liked the idea.

When I picked him up from school he was happy, started telling me about the science experiment they done today. He had a substitute, Mrs. Baker wasn't there today. The experiment was with magnets, they got to see how they worked. They picked up paper clips and different metal objects with them. He was excited about that.

Later that day we had to take a little trip to Grand Prairie to pick up daddy from work. He had to work late, so he didn't get to ride the van-pool. We stopped by Granny Nancy's before and Tanner got to play with Josh and Colton. He had fun, he didn't want to leave. They talked to him about school and how fun it was. I had hoped that it would help him. We shall see....

Is it the weekend yet?

Tanner wasn't ready for school this morning after having a long weekend. He cried and cried and cried. I had to walk him into school, and have the coach take him in to the gym. He was clinging onto me. It's so hard. I hate to leave him crying like that. But I know its going to be OK.

When I picked Tanner up he was just fine. He had a good day. He also got another Top Dog Card. That makes number 11. I am so proud of him. When we got home we ate lunch and then we played outside. Rode his bike, and played baseball. It was so nice outside and  we had a lot of fun. Nice mommy and Tanner time.

Weekend Fun

Thank goodness this was a long weekend. We need that extra day to catch up on some rest. Waking up at 4:50am to take Scooter to his van-pool, then back home to sleep for another hour, wake up at 6:30am to get Tanner up and ready for school... wears a momma out. But I do anything I have to do for my boys.

Friday- Mom was home sick, so the whole family got to go pick up Tanner from school. He was very excited! They got to see what I have to do everyday. We had to go run errands all over the world it seemed. Took Tanner to eat at Taco Bell. Then we got home around 4 and kinda relaxed.

Saturday- We went and ate at Denny's for lunch, very very bad experience by the way. Then we went to the grocery store. Scooter got stuff to cook out on Sunday. We ended up having to go back to the grocery store to get stuff we forgot. Then we came home and hung out.
Sunday- We were home most of the day. Scooter woke up at 730am and started smoking some ribs and a pork butt. I ended up having to go back to the store for toilet paper and shampoo/conditioner. LOL, I know...we always for a million things. Then we had an awesome dinner. Ribs, Pork Butt, seasoned potatoes, cornbread, beans & stuffed jalapenos. It was so good! And then it was time for an adult beverage, or two. I made some peach wine-a-rita's. Absolutely delish!

Monday-  We took Tanner to McDonald's, his favorite. He played the entire time. Which was ok with us. He ate in the car. After that we went to Corsicana to Atwoods to look around. Then came home, had dinner and that was it for our weekend.

It was nice to not have plans, and just go day by day. Do whatever we thought of at the time.

Thursday Already

Another doubtful morning. Tanner once again didn't want to go into school. I just had to keep talking to him about all the fun things they were going to do and learn. About all his new friends, he even wrote Josh (his BFF) a little note to take to him. He got out and walked in like a big boy, but was crying again. I think he just has to get used to me leaving him everyday. Once he's  in the school is fine.

Mimi brought Tanner 2 pigs n a blanket and a Yoohoo for breakfast. He loved it. He didn't eat it, he wanted to save it for later. So he drank it when he got home. And informed me that he wanted a whole bunch of them for his breakfast everyday.

When I picked him up he was excited. He could not wait to tell me that he got another TOP DOG card. That makes 10. YAY!! I'm so happy for him. I sure hope his name gets called for that prize. He also met a new friend today, Jose.  Him, Josh and Jose will be in the same morning class this year. He also brought home a Thank You card from his teacher for sending her a birthday card. It was really sweet. That made him feel good for her to give him that.

Mommy & Tanner

 MY WHOLE WORLD!!!

Getting over the HUMP

Wednesday...
Tanner did not want to go to school this morning. Once he gets inside he's fine. I think he still has to get used to not being with mom all day. It will get better.

I had to keep him occupied in the car while we were waiting to get to the school doors, he played a game on my phone. We get to the doors and the the teacher lets him out and gets his backpack on, I look back as I'm driving away and he is wiping tears away from his face. It breaks my heart, but I know he will be okay.

When I pulled up at the school to pick him up, his class was at the playground having recess. I was so happy that I got to see him with his friends. He was playing with his best friend Josh, and Kaden. They were standing there talking, then I see Kaden grab Tanner's hand and walk with him. That was so sweet. It made me feel better that he was getting along with the other kids and had made friends. He didn't see me at first, but when he did he got excited. He ran to his teacher and pointed me out and gave me a little wave.

Tanner was in a good mood when he came out and got in the car. He had a good day.  He said he didn't want to tell me what they did in class though.

Later that night me and daddy had to go to Pre-K orientation. We learned so much about Tanner's school and class. I am so glad that we went. And.... his teacher gave Tanner 6 more Top Dog cards for us going, plus he won an ABC poster in a drawing.  He was excited when I told him.

Back to School

Tanner did great this morning getting up for school. No problems. Even though he still isn't feeling good.

I had to walk him into school to give them his Dr note and talk to the teacher. He was so happy that I walked him in. He wanted me to tell that lady in the cafeteria that he didn't have to eat breakfast if he don't want to. I guess in the morning's there's a teacher that helps them get their breakfast. Well, he's been eating at home so when he gets up there he tells her no he don't want to eat but she makes him anyway. I didn't see her this morning to tell her, so I just told him to tell her that he already ate and that his mom said it was ok for him to go straight to the gym.

We went to the gym where they have to line up and wait for the teacher. We just sat there quite and waited. Once his teacher got there I explained his sickness and everything and I left. I thought he was going to call after me, but he didn't.

When i picked him up he seemed to have really had a good day. He was very happy and talkative. He got a Top Dog coupon, to put his name in a drawing for prizes. He met some new kids in his class. And he brought home his Raccoon puppet he made. ;)

Sick Boy!

Tanner woke up Sunday with a runny nose and congestion. But was up playing and being his normal self until that evening. He didn't want to eat dinner, said nothing tasted right. I gave him some tylenol before so that he would be able to sleep good.

Monday morning he was very hesitant and slow getting up and ready. I could tell he really didn't feel good. I wanted him to try and go to school anyway since he wasn't running fever. I hate that he would have miss school already.

We finally get it all together and pull up at the school, in the back of the line, with cars behind us. Tanner starts crying, really sad cry, break a momma's heart kind of cry. He was telling me he didn't feel good and he just wanted to turn around and go home. I had to wait in the line all the way to doors before we could get out of the parking lot. I tried to talk to him and make him understand that I know he was sick but it wasn't good to miss school. If he stayed home we were going to lay down for awhile and then I was taking him to the Dr.

Well, the Dr visit went well. She did a strep test, and we wont get the results for 48 hours. She said his throat was real red, and that he had allergies. Until we know the results of the strep test I can only give him tylenol and allergy meds. She prescribed amoxicillian but I can only give it to him if he starts running a fever or the results come back positive.

I hate seeing my baby sick. His little voice is hoarse and he can barely breathe threw his nose. Hopefully it clears up soon.

Saturday was full of parties!

This past Saturday was a full day. We left the house at 10am and didn't get home til almost midnight. Tanner was excited. He couldn't want to see his friends.

First we had to go to The Forum Bowling Alley for Scooter's niece Abby's birthday. Tanner had a blast bowling. He did great, even got a strike.

After Abby's birthday party we had to go Chuck E Cheese for Baby Ruben's birthday. We all had a lot of fun. Tanner got to eat his favorite pizza and play lots of games.

Then after Baby Ruben's party we went to Nonna & Ricky's house for Uncle Robert's birthday. We were exhausted!

Finally Friday-5th Day of School

Happy Friday!!
Tanner was excited about today. His class was having a birthday party for his teacher and Shania (classmate). His teacher was baking them chocolate chip cookies and they were going to sing and have fun. But he said, I wasn't invited. Silly kid.

Today was the first of many friday's that daddy and mommy would take him and pick him up from school.  Daddy got to experience our morning routine, and how he gets out and goes into school all by hisself. Of course he was super duper excited when we picked him up.

After school mamma & daddy took Tanner to eat at McDonald's for having such a good week and being a big boy. Then we went to Walmart. He kept saying, im off for 2 days.
Not sure what he was doing but.... I LOVE this crazy kid SO much!

4th Day of School

This morning I was again a little worried. Tanner didn't give me any problems waking up. He did not want his mimi to leave for work, he was clinging on to her. He walked her out to her car, opened the door, kissed her bye, and closed the door. I was so worried that he wasn't going to let her go. Once I got him into the house, I tryed to get him to eat something but no luck. He didn't want to eat. He said his stomach was hurting. I tryed to tell him it was because he either needed to use the restroom or he was hungry. Shortly after that he was ready to get out the door. So, we got to the school a little early. We parked and waited til time. He told me he didn't want to go sit by the bowling pin in the gym. That's where they have to meet every morning to wait on their teacher and they say the Pledge of Allegiance in there as a group. I didn't say anything I just tryed to change the subject. Then the teachers came out and he got out of the car and went in the school with no problems. I watched him as he was walking in and his poor little face looked so scared. It breaks my heart.

When I picked Tanner up he came out in a good mood and very happy. Mrs. Baker told me they are having a party tomorrow since it's Friday. Tanner told me its Mrs. Baker and Shania's birthdays. He is very excited about it. On the ride home I asked him about his day of course. He said they got to play on the playground. A man was showing them about "mean mans", but he wasn't mean he was really nice. So I'm assuming they had a safety class. He said they got to make raccoon puppets today. He didn't get to finish his but the teacher said it was ok, he could finish it tomorrow. I asked him if anyone had gotten in trouble today. He said, I did. So, I asked him why. He said that he was standing in line and was playing with a airplane and didn't have his hands behind his back. But his best friend didn't tell on him, it's a secret. Funny kids!

School Day 3

Already half way threw the 1st week of school... Doesn't seem real sometimes.

This morning was a lot better then yesterday, thank goodness. It took him a little while to wake up and get going, but once he was dressed he was ready to go. I kinda thought he was going to give me problems about going, because he was asking me why he had to go to everyday. Then he had to call his Mimi this morning.

When I pulled up to the door and the lady helper got him out of the car he had a little scared look on his face. I got a worried, cause I was trying to let him go in by his self this morning. I watched out the window til I couldnt see him anymore. I did good, I didn't cry this time.

When I picked him up his teacher walked him to the car and the 1st thing out of his mouth is, "mom guess what? Those 2 boys were laughing at me cause I had a heart on my hand." Apparently the teacher stamped his hand with a heart because during story time he sat on the floor quiet for a whole 12 minutes. The boys were telling him that the heart was for girls. I guess the teacher told him it was ok, it could be for mommy. I asked Tanner, well didnt those 2 boys get a stamp? He said no they didnt want one. I had to explain to him that it was ok and that those boys were wrong. He did a good job by listening. I asked him, so what did you say to them when they were laughing? He told me he didn't say anything. I then told him, well if they do it again you just go tell the teacher and don't say anything to them.

Other then that he had a good day. He did tell me that he ate a corndog. I didn't understand at first, but then I remembered they were having pancakes on a stick which is a breakfast corndog. I asked him why he ate breakfast, he told me he wasn't eating. I had sent him with no money and told him to go straight to the gym. He said, my teacher was in there and she helped me get my food. I asked him how when he didnt have the money. He said he told the lady he didnt have money and she said it was ok, he didn't have to pay this time. So looks like i will be going to into the school to check on that in the morning.

Oh and he said they had a fire drill. ;) I am so happy he likes going to school.

Day 2 of Pre-K

This morning started out a little rough for momma. Tanner on the other hand was so good and acted very big. Even gave me a thumbs up. I had to go through a lot of trouble to be able to walk him to where he needed to be this morning. They expect us parents to just let them out of the car and they have to find their own way. Not this momma! For heaven's sake its only his 2nd day in a school he's not familiar with. I would have been worried to death that he would get lost or wouldn't be able to find his way around. I had to go to the office, sign in and show them my ID. They scan my ID and print out a photo copy badge for you wear around the school. I just didn't think it was fair to make him find his way in unfamiliar territory. They have to meet in the Gym every morning to do the Pledge and go over morning announcements. The teacher will pick them up from there. Well, the Gym is at the back of the school. You have to go threw the cafeteria to get to it. Thank goodness Tanners actual class room is directly across from the cafeteria.

Tanner has really been a very good sport about going to school without Mom & Dad. He has yet to say anything negative or that makes me think he doesn't want to go. He seems to really love it. I am so relieved and happy.

Some things Tanner talked about from his day:

~ A boy got in trouble at the playground because he "was messing with a beautiful tree."
~The teacher took them to the computer room to show them all the computers.
~They talked about ABC's
~He has a new friend named Josh
~Teacher gave him more gold coins, and he has to collect them
~Teacher gave him some smarties for paying attention

and that was it, he said he didn't want to tell me anymore.

From Mrs. Baker:
I was told that Tanner is doing very well and he behaves. ;)

1st Day of School

We have hit a Milestone today. 1st Day of school... yes you read it right. My son is now a Pre-K student at Palmer Elementary. Last Thursday we had "Meet the teacher" night. Tanner got to look around the school, and his classroom a little. He has an awesome teacher, Mrs. Baker. I was so relieved when I met her. She has a wonderful personality and seemed to interact great with the kids. I could tell by her looks and the way she talked to the kids that she is fun. Tanner didn't want to leave the school that night.

This morning when I woke him up he had a good attitude, got dressed, brushed his teeth/hair, took his vitamins and was ready to go. A little bitter sweet! We get to the school and he walks in with his little Batman backpack like he's done it before.

We walk him to the cafeteria and he eats cereal for breakfast. After breakfast we walk to his classroom. He puts his backpack away and Mrs. Baker takes our picture and then one of him by his-self for their name tags. He immediately finds a table with some block shapes and gets busy. He was ready to get the day started. Daddy snuck out first. So I tell his teacher by, then tell Tanner bye and that I will pick him up later. He was like "OK mom". LOL, I cant believe how big he is getting. So I went ahead and left while he was ok. I admit I did get down the hall and then turn around and peeked in his classroom to make sure he was still alright. All the while fighting back the tears. I get sit down in the car and Scooter is bawling. So then here comes my tears just a flowing. I finally had to tell him, ok we need to go home.

So we get home and we both sit on the couch as quiet as can be, occasionally looking over at each other. Scooter eventually had to head to work, so I started updating family on how things were going. I eventually had to get busy around the house so I wasn't sitting there worrying my self to death. When the clock struck 10:30 I was anxiously running out the door to pick him up. I couldn't wait to see his face when I picked him up.
We get in the car and he's telling me all about his day. How much fun he had. He said that they told everyone their names, Mrs. Baker gave them goodie bags, they went to the playground, and him and another kid helped the teacher pick up trash. Very relieved to hear how well it went. He even told me, "mom I didn't even cry or nothing". Makes a momma very very proud! As soon as we got settled in the car and on our way home he had to call his daddy and tell him everything. He is excited to go back tomorrow. YAY!
