1st Day of School

We have hit a Milestone today. 1st Day of school... yes you read it right. My son is now a Pre-K student at Palmer Elementary. Last Thursday we had "Meet the teacher" night. Tanner got to look around the school, and his classroom a little. He has an awesome teacher, Mrs. Baker. I was so relieved when I met her. She has a wonderful personality and seemed to interact great with the kids. I could tell by her looks and the way she talked to the kids that she is fun. Tanner didn't want to leave the school that night.

This morning when I woke him up he had a good attitude, got dressed, brushed his teeth/hair, took his vitamins and was ready to go. A little bitter sweet! We get to the school and he walks in with his little Batman backpack like he's done it before.

We walk him to the cafeteria and he eats cereal for breakfast. After breakfast we walk to his classroom. He puts his backpack away and Mrs. Baker takes our picture and then one of him by his-self for their name tags. He immediately finds a table with some block shapes and gets busy. He was ready to get the day started. Daddy snuck out first. So I tell his teacher by, then tell Tanner bye and that I will pick him up later. He was like "OK mom". LOL, I cant believe how big he is getting. So I went ahead and left while he was ok. I admit I did get down the hall and then turn around and peeked in his classroom to make sure he was still alright. All the while fighting back the tears. I get sit down in the car and Scooter is bawling. So then here comes my tears just a flowing. I finally had to tell him, ok we need to go home.

So we get home and we both sit on the couch as quiet as can be, occasionally looking over at each other. Scooter eventually had to head to work, so I started updating family on how things were going. I eventually had to get busy around the house so I wasn't sitting there worrying my self to death. When the clock struck 10:30 I was anxiously running out the door to pick him up. I couldn't wait to see his face when I picked him up.
We get in the car and he's telling me all about his day. How much fun he had. He said that they told everyone their names, Mrs. Baker gave them goodie bags, they went to the playground, and him and another kid helped the teacher pick up trash. Very relieved to hear how well it went. He even told me, "mom I didn't even cry or nothing". Makes a momma very very proud! As soon as we got settled in the car and on our way home he had to call his daddy and tell him everything. He is excited to go back tomorrow. YAY!
